I’m a Hero Too is my first trade picture book!

Written by Jamila Rizvi, Illustrated by ME, Edited by Lisa Riley and Michelle Madden, Designed by Julie Hally and published by Penguin Random House Australia (Puffin)

I’m really proud of this book. The deadline for it was just a little over a month so the schedule was crazy! The whole experience is still just a blur of colour.

Once it was done and I had handed in all the final art I was deeply worried the book would look horrible as I couldn’t tell if the art looked good or not (very sleepless at this stage).

But when the Penguin team showed me the final designs as proof before printing, the text and illustration combined just looked fantastic.

I am perfectly happy with how it turned out. Thank you to everyone who helped work on the book and to you readers for reading it. It was SO fun and I’d do it all again. Same schedule and everything.
